The Beginning

Here I am sitting after two and half years of studying and working non-stop through graduate school waiting for the next adventure. After much consideration, I have chosen to complete my CF year in the school setting and am eager to start. My clinical rotations for pediatrics were through private practice so I do not know what to expect for scheduling, caseloads, etc. Luckily, I have taught in the school system for 12 years so at least I am comfortable and know the basics of how things run in a school. I have searched for blogs specifically for beginning SLP’s and have found there is very little information or support for CF’s. During graduate school I had a strong network of fellow classmates that helped and support each other through a private group Facebook page. I think that type of support is needed for the CF year to remind you that you are not alone, that we are all learning and that we ourselves are great resources as we all have different experiences. I have started this blog to fill this need. I hope you will follow and interact with the blog and associated social media pages so we can create a safe and welcoming place to ask questions, comment, share and learn with each other. In the end, we all want to be the best clinicians we can be and make it through the first few years on our own.
